As per reports of certain news papers and news agencies Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and the opposition Congress on Tuesday refrained from commenting on the High Court verdict striking down the state government's notification that reserved 50 per cent of seats for Sikhs in educational institutions run by the community and the SGPC. "No one can comment on the court's verdict," Badal told reporters outside the state assembly and said that the matter was now sub-judice. He, however, said the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) - the prime religious body of the Sikhs - would move the Supreme Court against the High Court's verdict.
Delivering the judgment on Monday the High Court had also ruled that Sikhs were not a minority in the state.
Leader of opposition Rajinder Kaur Bhattal also refused to comment on the High Court's verdict saying that the Congress was a party with secular credentials.
