SSF Criticized the Police Action against Students in Bathinda

Patiala (December 22, 2007)
The Sikh Students Federation today criticized Punjab Police for deploying lathi-charge on students of ITI College, Bathinda. SSF Press Secretary S. Kamaljit Singh said that the position of education is deteriorating in Punjab. Students are facing many problems including problem of Bus Passes and continuous fee hikes. In this position if students show their protest against the system then the administration uses force to suppress them. He said administration and Governments are not considering problems of students by attaching required significance to them. Talking about Bathinda incident, Kamaljit Singh said that it police has shown its’ cruel face once again. Police entered in College Campus even without permission of College Head and students were beaten. Police did not hesitated from entering girls’ campus. All this shows that there is no check on arbitrary powers of Police. He demanded an inquiry and proper action against the police personnel responsible for the incident.
