AMRITSAR:Reacting sharply on the BJP's remarks that Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was a terrorist, the Dal Khalsa alleged that it was vice-versa.
Taking a dig at Balbir Punj, an MP and in charge of the Punjab BJP unit for uttering derogatory remarks against Sant Bhindrawale, Kanwar Pal Singh a party general secretary dubbed Narendar Modi a poster boy of the BJP as a terrorist and enemy of the mankind. Instead of passing uncalled remarks against Sikh heroes, the BJP should first clean its own house. He said Punj's remarks tantamount to hurting Sikh honour. "What kind of politics these people were playing. They are playing with fire by arousing communal passion", he pointed out. As they say majority communalism breeds minority fundamentalism, he said pointing fingers towards those who were on the forefront in flaring up the issue". On the on-going controversy related to installing of Bhindrawale's portrait in Sikh Museum, he said the persons who have no locus standi were unnecessary airing their views making things worst. Justifying Sant Bhindrawale's acts he said he raised the banner of revolt because our identity itself including beliefs, way of life, language and culture was under attack.
He urged SAD leadership to press upon the BJP leaders ensuring that they should stop poking their nose in the matters that were sensitive and close to Sikh hearts. On the call of Shiv Sanikis for Punjab Bandh, he said Punjabis should ignore such empty and hollow calls. "Just ignore it and stick to your business on Dec 14" was his message to all Punjabis. He declared that the delegation of Khalsa Action Committee members and leaders of associated groups would stage a dharna outside the residence of Smt Sonia Gandhi on Dec 12. To expose Congress misdeeds and its active support to Sirsa Head, we will be demonstrating against Congress chief.
